Curb Appeal Before and After
This home was in need of a facelift, with faded and chipped trim and stair paint, rusty porch swing chains, and stair railings that were wobbly. House numbers were barely visible from the street and the latticework, porch floor and ceiling were in need of a fresh coat of paint.
Step One Staging helped the seller choose trim colors that would appeal to a broad range of buyers, as well as recommending an inexpensive face lift by spray-painting the porch swing chains and stair rail. This is an outstanding example of what a fresh coat of paint can do for curb appeal. Larger house numbers helped dress up the front of the home, and it now had a warm and welcoming appeal to buyers.

Bedroom Before and After
This teen’s bedroom was very taste-specific with overwhelming wall colors and personal items throughout the room. A rabbit cage greeted buyers with an unwelcoming odor. The carpeting was worn, and the woodwork needed to be repaired. This room had the potential to compromise the sale of the home prior to staging.
Step One Staging completely transformed his space by painting walls a warm, neutral color, installing new carpeting, removing all personal items, and painting the woodwork. The window was cleaned and a sheer curtain was added to allow natural light to enter the room. New bedding and throw pillows created an inviting focal point.

Bedroom Before and After
This college student’s bedroom was cluttered with personal items, making it appear smaller and more closed-in than it really was. In addition, a stale odor, and a heavy window covering caused buyers to feel a disconnect when they entered the room. Carpets were worn and needed to be replaced, and the wallpaper added to the busyness of the room.
The goal of Step One Staging is to utilize existing finishes whenever possible. The wallpaper now added an old-fashioned charm when coupled with new bedding, throw pillows and a sheer window treatment. Step One Staging helped educate the homeowner about the return on investment for new carpeting and similar upgrades. The ability to place a higher asking price on the home more than made up for the upfront investment.

Office Before and After
A cluttered desk made a poor first impression as buyers entered the office, causing the focus to fall on the desk area, detracting from the sense of openness and appeal of the overall space.
By helping the homeowner find suitable storage space for items that cluttered the desk, Step One Staging demonstrated the importance of taking the focus away from problem areas that may distract from the overall appeal of a room. Well-placed accessories helped define the large window as the focal point.

Living Room Before and After
The back portion of this informal living room felt cramped and seemed to lack definition. The space needed to be more accessible, and the arrangement of furniture felt oversized and awkward.
Step One Staging exchanged the chair and ottoman with a loveseat from another section of the room, and rearranged the pieces to open up the space. Splashes of red accessories complemented the colors present in the sofa upholstery, and created a more unified look. The addition of an area rug and coffee table served to define the space as a cozy and inviting conversation area.

Master Bedroom Before and After
The large space in this master bedroom lacked warmth, with out-of-scale wall art and bedding options that didn’t play up the elegance of the space.
Step One Staging added wall art to scale over the headboard, creating a focal point worthy of the luxurious room. Reading lamps and extra pillows added warmth and transformed the master bedroom into a relaxing retreat.

Executive Office Before and After
Deep blue walls made this executive basement office feel dreary and overbearing, with wall art that was too small for the space, and many personal photos that made it difficult for buyers to picture this as their home office.
Step One Staging recommended the walls be painted a refreshing sage green, adding elegance and life to this outstanding office space. Wall art in keeping with the scale of the room, and the removal of personal photos, transformed this office into a space fit for any executive buyer!
